Regulations

 8th Tehran International Animation Festival will be held on March 3-7,  2013 by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children & Young Adults.

  Aims and Objectives of the Festival

1-  Providing an opportunity for artists to exchange ideas through gathering purposeful presentation of the animation works.

2-  Discovering potentials and encouraging young animators to innovate and create.

3-  Developing abilities through new techniques and perspectives.

The festival is categorized in four sections: Competition, non competitive category, Special Screening and Panorama.

 Competition Section:

Films HD, MiniDV, DVcam or DVD are accepted, on the following bases:

1-      At most three episodes per series could be submitted.

2-      All commissioned films such as educational, industrial and advertising works can enter in this category.

3-      Selection of the films is made by a council whose members are appointed by the festival committee.

4-      None of those involved in the production of films who are also a member of the jury can enter their work in this section of the festival.

5-      The festival committee can have one representative in the sessions of the jury. This representative has no right to vote.

A. International Competition

The foreign films produced after January 2009 which have not participated at the previous editions of this festival can take part in this section. An international jury consisting of at least 5 members of artists and specialists will judge the entries. The head of the jury and the members selected by Festival committee will give the following awards to the winners:

¾Golden Prize for the best animation

1- Silver Prize for the second best animation

2- Bronze Prize for the third best animation

3- Golden Prize for the best animation dealing with the subject of children and young adults

4- Golden Prize for the best student animation

5- Golden Prize for the best TV production

6- Golden Prize for the best advertising animation

7- Golden Prize for the best feature animation

8- Special Prize of the jury

9- Special Prize of the festival director

In addition to the awards listed above the jury may offer at most three honorary diplomas to the other films or people involved in the production.

B. National Competition

The films produced after April 2009 which have not participated at the previous edition of this festival, can take part in this section. A five-member jury consisting of artists and animation experts will judge the films in this section and present the awards as follows:

1- Golden Prize for the best animation

2- Silver Prize for the second best animation

3- Bronze Prize for the third best animation

4- Golden prize for the best movies with religious themes

5- Golden Prize for the best animation dealing with the subject children and young adults

6- Golden Prize for the best director -  student animation section

7- Golden Prize for the best animation script - student animation section

8- Golden Prize for the best animator - student animation section

9- Golden Prize for the best TV production

10- Golden Prize for the best advertising animation

11- Silver Prize for the best experimental animation

12- Golden Prize for the best animation script

13- Golden Prize for the best animator

14- Golden Prize for the best designer

15- Golden Prize for the best music

16- Golden Prize for the best sound

17- Golden Prize for the best feature animation

18- Special Prize of the jury

19- Special Prize of the festival director

In addition to the awards listed above, the jury may offer at most three honorary diplomas to the other films or people involved in the production.

Non- competitive category

All the films in this category are in the same level of those presented in competition section however, they will be shown in this section for following reasons.

1-      Not complying with rules & regulation of the competition section.

2-      Being a member of the jury.

3-      Completion of number of film in competition section.

4-      By the request of film- maker for showing the film in this section.

 Special Screening

This section on a non competitive basis is meant to pave the way for an effective exchange of experience and viewpoints of the artists and to provide stand for comparing Iranian works with those produced in other countries. A selection of the most outstanding animations from other international festival and retrospective of the work of a special style are the main subjects of this section.

 Panorama

The Screening of films in this section will focus mainly on educational informative aspects of domestic productions on a non-competitive basis. Topics like introducing new artists with promising futures the role of animation in advertisement and retrospective of a film-maker will be given attention in this section.

 General Rules

1-      You can submit through the festival's website and the copy of the submitted is acceptable only with the submission code from the website (www.tehran-animafestival.ir).

2-      Before submitting your film, please carefully study the regulation.

3-      For the series that each episode has an individual story, it is obligatory that each single episode submitted separately and gets one submission code. Should a series submitted just by one code, the festival secretariat would just participate the first episode of the series.   

4-      There is no limitation of entries for individuals, organizations and institutes.

5-      There is no restriction of winning a prize from this festival for film already awarded in other festivals

6-      No single award would be given to two or more entries at the same time.

7-      There is no entry fee for participation.

8-      The festival office will announce the results of the selection in January 2013.

9-      It is the duty of the Festival Office to determine the screening schedule. After the entrance of a film, no request for the withdrawal will be accepted.

10-  All the expenses in regard to the expedition of the work should be borne by the participant.

11-  On all Entrant packages should be indicated "it is to enter in the festival for cultural purpose only. It has no commercial value.

12-  Upon agreement of the participant the film will stay in the archive as a record of the festival.

13-  Individual and governmental companies to participant theirs films at this edition of festival should submit their entries through the festival's website. The copy of the film and any necessary material labeled with the submission code from website should be received no later than Dec 1st , 2012.

14-  The institutions or organizations willing to offer awards for the films in the competition section should notify the festival office 30 days prior to the beginning of the festival.

15-  Decisions to resolve any ambiguity resulting from the content of the rules and regulations or unexpected events would be made by the festival director.

16-  The Submission through the website is regarded as full acceptance of the all festival rules and regulations.
