Rules & Regulations
The 11th Tehran International Animation Festival (TIAF) will be held from 3rd to 7th March, 2019 by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children & Young Adults.
Objectives of the Festival
Creating an appropriate ground for exchange of ideas, thoughts and experiences by purposeful collection and presentation of artworks.
Spotting potentials and encouraging new comers to create and innovate
Developing abilities by adopting new attitudes and techniques in order to reach a higher quality
TIAF consists of four sections: competition, out of competition, special screening and panorama.   
Technical Requirements
Preferred Formats:
 DVD (Pal), Blu-Ray, MPEG4 (H.264), Quick time .mov file
Preferred format and resolution for competition section is as following:
Quick time .mov file (H264 or Prores Resolution 1920 * 1080)
 
Competition Section
To submit a series or collection, a maximum number of three episodes can be selected and submitted to the secretariat of the festival.
Commercials including educational and industrial productions can be participated in this section.
A council selected by festival headquarter is liable for selection of films.
No person having taken part in the production or exploitation of a film in competition may be on the Jury
A festival representative might be allowed to attend jurors’ meeting without any right to vote.

National Competition
Films that have been produced after 2014 and have not been presented in the previous editions of the festival can be selected in this section. An independent five-member panel of jury consists of prominent animation experts will judge the works and grant following awards.

◼Golden Prize for the best animation script - student section
◼Golden Prize for the best animator - student section
◼Silver prize for the best M.A theoretical thesis
◼Golden Prize for the best TV production
◼Golden Prize for the best commercial animation
◼Silver Prize for the best experimental animation
◼Silver Prize for the best visual effects
◼Golden Prize for the best animation script
◼Golden Prize for the best animator
◼Golden Prize for the best concept design
◼Golden Prize for the best music
◼Golden Prize for the best sound
◼Golden Prize for the best feature animation
◼Special Prize of the jury panel
◼Special Prize of the secretary of the festival

In addition to the above mentioned awards, three honorary diplomas might also be granted to the nominees by panel of jurors.
International Competition
Films that have been produced after January 2015 and have not been presented in the previous editions of the festival can enter this section. A panel consists of leading international jurors selected by festival headquarter will judge the works and grant following awards.

In addition to the above mentioned awards, three honorary diplomas might also be granted to nominees by panel of jurors.
Out of Competition Section
All the films in this section are in the same level of those presented in competition section however; they will be shown in this section owing to one of the following reasons.
Not complying with rules & regulations of the competition section.
The filmmaker or a relevant body is a member of jurors.
Submission of competition section might have been closed.
Special Screening
This section is on a non-competitive basis which is meant to pave the way to create a dynamic atmosphere for artists’ exchange of experiences and viewpoints.  It’s also aimed at providing a proper ground for the assessment of Iranian animations in comparison to their foreign counterparts.
A selection of the most outstanding animations from other international festivals and retrospective of the work of a special style or school are the main parts of this section.
Panorama
The Screening of films in this section focuses mainly on the educational and informative aspects of different works with a non-competitive criterion. Introducing new talents, enlightening the role of animation in advertisement and retrospective of a film maker will be among other parts of this section.
General Rules
Participants must submit only via the festival′s website. (www.tehran-animafestival.ir)
Please bear in mind that only films with submission code will be accepted by the secretariat of the festival.
You’re highly recommended to carefully study the rules and regulations before submitting your film.
The minimum age for the director would be 16 to submit their film in the festival.
It’s obligatory for the series that each episode has an individual story to submit separately and receive a separate code (maximally three episodes). Should a series be submitted just by one code, the festival secretariat would participate only the first episode.  
There is no limitation of entries for individuals, organizations and institutes.
Winning a prize from other festivals does not contradict the rules and regulations of TIAF.
No joint award would be granted to two or more entries.
There is no entry fee for participation.
It is the duty of the festival office to determine the screening schedule. After the entrance of a film, no request for the withdrawal will be accepted.
All expenses for the transportation and shipping are to be met by the film′s producers or relevant body.
Upon agreement of the owner, the submitted copy of film will be kept in the archive as a record of the festival.
The institutions or organizations willing to offer awards for the films in the competition section should notify the festival office 60 days prior to the beginning of the festival.
Should any dispute arise regarding the interpretation of an article in these regulations, secretary of the festival has the power to settle.
The Submission through the website is regarded as full acceptance of the all festival rules and regulations.
Important Dates
Submission will open on 12th July 2018
Submission deadline will be on 5th November 2018
Selection announcement will be in early January 2018
Festival days will be on 3rd to 7th March, 2019
Note
The submission days won’t be extended.
