The 9th TIAF Is the Record Holder
One of the members of the selection committee of the 9th Tehran international animation festival said that this year edition of the festival has set the record both in national and international sections. According to the public relation and international affairs department of Kanoon, Kianoush Abedi added that foreign films are of high quality and a considerable improvement can be seen in national student works. Talking about significance of the orderly and continuous holding of a festival he continued that though there are some festivals which over 30 editions of them have been held, their poor and disorderly organizing has damaged their credit whereas the successful nine editions of Tehran international animation festival has placed it next to highly accredited animation festivals like Hiroshima.
“When I talked with some directors who had submitted their films to this festival I found out that they regard it as an international event and feel quite happy to participate” Abedi quoted as saying.
He said that regarding around 1300 submitted international films the selection process was really difficult owing to the fact that only 10 percent of artworks can get through the festival. Abedi added that though the student and experimental national films have notably improved the TV and child and young adult films were not of high quality.
This animation director concluded that although the first obstacle in the way of animation is budget, setting aim is of utmost importance too. “Budget per se is not enough. Producers in countries like China and India have been working over ten years on setting their aims alongside allocating budget to recognize their audience, target market and age group” Abedi was quoted as saying.
The 9th Tehran international animation festival will be held on March 8-12, 2015 in seven halls.
